About Freya Welch: my artistic journey
Welcome to my world. Here, you'll discover a new reality, one that explores the unknown and reshapes your perspective. Tangibility is blurred here and 3D and 2D melt together to create something else, an immersive and thought provoking experience.

My artistic journey
Art has been a constant in my life for many years, a passion that has always driven me. The journey to becoming an artist, has been deeply influenced by surrealism. Artists such as Jan Svankmajer, Dragan Bibin and many more have had a huge impact on my composition and subject matter. Its imaginative and phantasmagoric nature has profoundly shaped my perspective and creative output, allowing me to explore new dimensions within my work.

Unveiling the essence of Freya Welch's art
My unique artistic style is best described through the themes I explore: puppetry, capitalism, and surrealism. These elements combine to make my art distinct. Through these themes, I aim to present a commentary on control, the unknown, and altered realities, inviting viewers to look beyond the surface.

Evoking emotions: questioning reality
When someone engages with my art or acquires one of my pieces, I hope to evoke a sense of unease and a questioning of reality. My aim is for viewers to feel unsettled, prompting them to ponder the narratives and imagery presented. It is this emotional and intellectual engagement that I strive for, making each piece a journey into introspection.
“Unless we again begin to tell fairy stories and ghost stories at night before going to sleep and recounting our dreams upon waking, nothing more is to be expected of our Western civilisation.”
-Jan Švankmajer
